09 feb Steven: ‘It was not our night’
Achterhoek Orion HS1 – Draisma Dynamo HS1: 0 – 3
On Saturday February 9, Achterhoek Orion suited up for our last regular season game of the 2018/2019 season against Draisma Dynamo. Coming into the final round tied for points with Sliedrecht, this match would determine a 2nd or 3rd place finish heading into the Champions Pool. Earlier in the evening, Sliedrecht lost 3-2 against Papendal Talent Team, so a 3-0 or 3-1 win would see Orion secure 2nd place.
Yordan Peev (3) en Renzo Verschuren (9) betwisten elkaar de bal.
However, tonight was not our night and it saw Dynamo emerge victorious 3-0. Both teams were neck and neck through the first half of each set, but solid serving pressure and defence from Dynamo helped them edge ahead when it mattered. A disappointing result but a good learning tool for the team also.
Despite the loss, Orion still sit in third place heading into the Champions Pool and with next weekend off, all focus now turns to our future fixtures. A full two weeks preparation before our first match is just what the team needs to refresh and refocus. Our schedule has not been announced yet, but it would be great to see as many of you there for our home matches as we begin our charge for the Championship Round. Look forward to seeing you there.
